1 3/4 cup milk
3 eggs
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
nutmeg
Place milk in a 2
cup measure, microwave on High (100%) for 4 to 5 minutes or
until steaming. Mix together remaining ingredients, except
nutmeg, in a 1 1/2 quart casserole until well blended.
Sprinkle with nutmeg. Cover with tight fitting lid or plastic
wrap. Microwave on Low (30 percent) for 14 to 16 minutes or until
knife inserted near edge comes out clean. (Turn dish a half
turn halfway through cooking time.) Remove cover immediately
and allow to stand on a solid heat resistant surface until
center is set. Serve warm or cool.
Total cooking time 23 to 26 minutes.
Individual Baked Custard (Microwave): Follow baked
custard recipe as directed except mix in a four cup measure and
divide custard into four 6 ounce custard cups. Cover. Micro-
wave on Low (30 percent) for 12 to 14 minutes. Note: Rearrange cups halfway
through cooking time. Yields 4 servings.
Note: Custards may cook at different rates. Remove from oven
as they finish cooking.
