1 package (30 oz.)country-style hash-brown potatoes
1 pint sour cream
1 stick butter
1 can Cream of Chicken soup
1 tsp. dried onion flakes or: 1/4 cup chopped onion
2 cups shredded cheddar  cheese
Melt butter..  Place slightly thawed potatoes in 9 by 13 inch casserole, pour melted butter over, and mix well.
In very large bowl, combine: sour cream, soup and cheese.
Add potatoes to above mixture.
Spread in casserole, and top with crushed  corn flakes 
Bake uncovered  1 hour at 350 degrees.
Note:  You can add left-over ham to this, making a complete meal.
