1 (18.25-ounce) package white cake mix
1 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup butter, melted
4 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
caramel-pecan frosting, recipe of your choice, to taste
Step 1 - Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 - Grease a 15x10-inch jelly-roll pan.
Step 3 - In a bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the cake mix, the buttermilk, the butter, the egg whites, and the almond extract at low speed until blended, about 2 minutes.
Step 4 - Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Step 5 - Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 15-20 minutes.
Step 6 - Allow the cake to cool on a rack for 2 hours.
Step 7 - Pour the frosting over the cooled cake and spread to cover it.
Step 8 - Slice and serve.
